Michael Bandy: Headed for free agency
The Chargers announced Friday that they will not tender Bandy, making him an unrestricted free agent, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Bandy took advantage of Los Angeles' depleted wideout corps in 2022 and made 10 appearances, catching 10 of 21 targets for 89 yards. The undrafted product of out San Diego has experience as a kick returner too and should be able to latch on with a new team ahead of training camp.

However, Bandy saw his role drastically decrease once both receivers returned to action.

Bandy did not catch his only target Sunday in a Week 11 loss to Kansas City.
Bandy played at least 58 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps in each of the team's games between Week 7 and Week 10, but he saw just eight snaps (12 percent) Sunday. That was largely due to the return of both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams (ankle), though Williams reaggravated his injury in the first half. Even if Williams is forced to miss Week 12, Bandy probably won't be a major contributor with Allen back on the field and Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter seemingly ahead of him on the receiver depth chart.

With Keenan Allen (hamstring) and Mike Williams (foot) out once again, Bandy wound up playing 49 offensive snaps (84 percent); however, the short-yardage specialist was completely kept in check. Despite the extended playing time of late, the undrafted rookie hasn't been able to attract much in the way of targets.

Bandy caught five of his eight targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons.
Given Bandy somehow tallied negative yards across eight targets combined the previous two weeks, Sunday's performance is admittedly an upgrade, but with Bandy slotted into what amounts to a "bubble specialist" role, it's hard to imagine the yards-per-target figure improving noticeably. The undrafted rookie did play 79 percent of the offensive snaps with both Keenan Allen (hamstring) and Mike Williams (ankle) out, so it's possible Bandy could have some value in deeper PPR leagues next week with the status of both stud wideouts still up in the air.

Chargers' Michael Bandy: Loses yards on six targets
Bandy recorded minus-5 receiving yards on six targets while playing 40 of the Chargers' 69 snaps on offense in last Sunday's 37-23 loss to the Seahawks.
Incredibly, Bandy has negative yardage on eight targets over his last two contests, as he recorded a four-yard reception on two looks in the Chargers' previous game Week 6 versus the Broncos. The 58 percent snap share he saw Week 7 was a new season-high rate, but expect Bandy's opportunities to take a hit coming out of the Week 8 bye if Keenan Allen (hamstring) -- who was limited against the Seahawks -- and Joshua Palmer (concussion) are both available. Bandy may not fall out of the game plan entirely, however, as the Chargers are likely to be without Mike Williams (ankle) for at least a couple of games.

The Chargers signed Bandy from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Bandy had been elevated from the practice squad three times prior to this week, so Los Angeles was required to sign him to the active roster in order to summon him again. The second-year pro has logged 28 offensive snaps on the campaign, catching three of four targets for 53 yards. He'll serve as much-needed wide receiver depth with Keenan Allen (hamstring) deemed questionable and Joshua Palmer (concussion) ruled out for Sunday's contest against Seattle.
