Howard agreed to a three-year, $56 million extension with the Texans on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 2019 first-round pick's contract includes $36.5 million guaranteed and will kick in after the 2023 NFL season. After paying Howard, the Texans now have two of the six highest-paid offensive tackles in football, with Laremy Tunsil being the highest paid. Houston also extended guard Shaq Mason this offseason for $36 million, spending a total of $167 million to shore up its offensive line.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Practices fully Thursday
Howard (concussion) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Howard is moving through the NFL concussion protocol after being removed from last week's game. Thursday's full participation was the second-to-last step in the protocol. According to concussion policy, following a full practice, an independent doctor must clear Howard in order for him to play Sunday against the Jaguars.

Howard is now set to enter concussion protocols following Saturday's game, which will leave his status up in the air heading into Houston's Week 17 tilt versus Jacksonville.
