Player Outlook
Beasley remains a free agent at the time of publication. He told the Buffalo News in May that if he's not on a team in training camp, he will retire. Beasley, 34, spent time with Tampa Bay and Buffalo in 2022, combining for six catches for 35 yards on seven targets. Even if Beasley signs with a team and plays in 2023, he's not worth drafting in any Fantasy league.

  • Giants' Cole Beasley: Could be ascending up depth chart

Beasley worked as the Giants' No. 1 slot receiver during Thursday's practice, Ryan Novozinksy of NJ Advance Media reports. Beasley's role Thursday must be taken with context, as Parris Campbell -- who has been occupying the No. 1 slot position during training camp -- was sidelined due a knee issue and Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson are both working back from ACL tears. Still, it can only help Beasley in his quest to make the team and play a meaningful role this season that he had such a prominent opportunity to show that he still has gas left in the tank, especially since he reportedly has looked good in camp so far. The Giants have a crowded receiver room, especially in the slot, and it's too early to make any assumptions about how things will shake out, but Beasley appears to have at least a decent chance to secure a depth spot with New York in his age-34 campaign.

  • Giants' Cole Beasley: Returning for 12th NFL season

Beasley agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Beasley started the 2022 campaign with Tampa Bay but opted to retire in October. However, his retirement was brief, as he signed a practice-squad deal with Buffalo in mid-December and went on to appear in four games for the Bills, including two postseason contests. During the playoffs, Beasley caught five of nine targets for 68 yards and one score across 60 offensive snaps. He'll compete for a depth spot in the Giants' wideout room, which currently features Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt and Jamison Crowder. Wan'Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard figure to have roles as well when they're officially cleared to suit up following their recoveries from 2022 ACL tears.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Finds paydirt in wild-card round

Beasley brought in two of five targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 wild-card victory over the Dolphins. Making his third appearance for Buffalo since ending his brief retirement and joining the Bills' practice squad, Beasley saw his largest role to date in the postseason opener. Beasley and Khalil Shakir both played exactly 30 of the Bills' 72 offensive snaps, with the two wideouts splitting the No. 3 receiver role in place of Isaiah McKenzie (hamstring), who was inactive for the contest. Though Beasley had a costly drop in the contest in which the ball bounced off his chest and into the waiting arms of a Miami defender for an interception, the 33-year-old made up for it by scoring a go-ahead six-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Beasley may not have an opportunity to build on the performance in Sunday's divisional-round game against the Bengals, as McKenzie appears on track to play and could reclaim the No. 3 wideout role.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Joins active roster

The Bills have signed Beasley to their active roster ahead of Sunday's playoff opener against the Dolphins. Beasley, who had been a member of the practice squad, will provide the Bills with added slot depth for the team's postseason run. In two regular-season contests with Buffalo, Beasley (who also saw action in two games with Tampa Bay) caught two passes for 18 yards. During the 2021 season with the team, the 33-year-old recorded an 82/693/1 stat line in 16 games, but at this stage he's not a high-percentage fantasy option while working alongside top wideouts Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Elevated for MNF

The Bills elevated Beasley from the practice squad to their active roster for Monday's matchup against Cincinnati, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Beasley will be active for a third straight game. He's caught his lone target for nine yards in both of his past two appearances, totaling 15 offensive snaps in those games. The veteran wideout figures to see a similar role during Monday Night Football.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Moves back to Bills' practice squad

Beasley reverted to Buffalo's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Beasley came out of retirement to join the Bills' practice squad Tuesday, and he was activated for his first game back Saturday versus Miami. The 33-year-old went on to catch his lone target for nine yards, as he played the fifth-most offensive snaps (11) of Buffalo's five available wideouts Week 15. Beasley will now be available for two more elevations from the practice squad this season, so he'll likely continue to serve as the team's de facto No. 5 wideout so long as Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) remain on IR.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Suiting up after brief retirement

Beasley is active for Saturday's game against the Dolphins. Despite coming out of retirement Tuesday, Beasley didn't need much time to reacclimate himself with the Bills offense, one that he worked within from 2019 through 2021. During that three-year run, he averaged 10.6 yards per catch and scored 11 touchdowns among his 231 receptions in 46 games. While Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis serve as Buffalo's top options at wide receiver, Beasley may be able to get in the mix along with Isaiah McKenzie and Khalil Shakir.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Joins active roster for Week 15

The Bills elevated Beasley from their practice squad ahead of Saturday's game versus the Dolphins. Beasley ended his retirement earlier this week and now will play with his second organization of the campaign after seeing action for the Buccaneers back in Weeks 3 and 4. This also marks his second stint in Buffalo, so he has all the familiarity one could want for such a late-season addition. In 2021, Beasley hauled in 82 of 112 targets for 693 yards (8.5 YPC, 6.2 YPT) and one touchdown in 16 games for the Bills.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Ends retirement, joining Buffalo

Beasley is expected to end his retirement Tuesday and sign with the Bills' practice squad, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. The 33-year-old announced his retirement in October after a brief stint with the Buccaneers in which he suited up for two games and caught four of five targets for 17 yards. After the Bills came away from their recent meeting with free agent Odell Beckham (knee) without signing him, the organization will turn to a more familiar veteran receiver to fill out the position group. Given that he spent the 2019 through 2021 seasons in Buffalo under head coach Sean McDermott and with quarterback Josh Allen directing the offense, Beasley shouldn't need much time to gain familiarity with the offensive play calls. According to Garafolo, Beasley is expected to be elevated to the 53-man roster in short order, most likely ahead of Saturday's game against the Dolphins.

  • Cole Beasley: Set to end career

Beasley announced Wednesday that he will retire from the NFL, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Beasley will hang up his cleats after 11 seasons in the NFL, including a brief cameo with the Buccaneers for two games thus far in 2022. The longtime slot receiver was named a second-team All-Pro in 2020 after a career-best 976-yard campaign with the Bills. He initially went unselected in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he managed to carve out a successful six-year tenure with the Cowboys before playing three seasons in Buffalo, highlighted by a 2020 trip to the AFC Championship Game.

  • Cole Beasley: Shifts back to practice squad

Beasley reverted to the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Beasley played a smaller role after being activated by Tampa Bay for the second week in a row, bringing in his lone target for five yards on four offensive snaps against Kansas City. The veteran slot wideout joined the Buccaneers' practice squad to help provide depth for the team's banged-up receiving corps, as Chris Godwin and Julio Jones (undisclosed) returned from injury in Week 4. Beasley also played eight special-teams snaps, and he is now available for one more elevation to the Buccaneers' active roster this season.

  • Buccaneers' Cole Beasley: Elevated once more

Beasley was elevated to the Buccaneers' active roster Saturday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. This comes as no surprise given the Buccaneers are still dealing with a litany of injuries at wide receiver. While Beasley played only nine offensive snaps last week against the Packers, he did catch three of his four targets for 12 yards, with two of those receptions nearly going for first downs. Beasley is eligible to elevated via the practice squad one more time before the Buccaneers will need to make a choice on whether or not to add him to the 53-man roster.

  • Cole Beasley: Reverts to practice squad

Beasley reverted to the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Beasley showed up in a relatively significant role with wideouts Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) all sidelined Sunday, hauling in three of four targets for 12 yards over nine offensive snaps. The 33-year-old slot receiver recorded a first down with a four-yard catch in the first quarter, though his next reception did not come until the 12-minute mark in the fourth quarter. Beasley also played three special-teams snaps Sunday, but his primary value will come as a short-yardage receiver moving forward. The veteran is eligible for two more game-day elevations while on the Buccaneers' practice squad this season.

  • Buccaneers' Cole Beasley: Quick study in Bucs offense

Beasley, who signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad earlier this week and was elevated to the active roster Saturday, has quickly picked up the team's playbook, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "He's quick, catches up to speed [really] fast, he understands the system," head coach Todd Bowles said Friday. "He's played and he's got a lot of reps under him, so if we needed him, I think he'll be ready." Beasley's short acclimation curve could help propel him to a productive game Sunday considering the Buccaneers are down Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee). The veteran slot receiver worked intensively with receivers coach Kevin Garver this week and noted the team's scheme has plenty of carryover for him from the Cowboys and Bills offenses he's played in previously. Given Beasley's prior body of work, he profiles as just the type of sure-handed short-area receiver Tom Brady has thrived with in the past.

  • Buccaneers' Cole Beasley: Moves to active roster

The Buccaneers elevated Beasley from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. This move comes as little surprise after the veteran joined the Bucs' practice squad earlier this week. With Mike Evans (suspended) and Chris Godwin (knee) out, and the trio of Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) all questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Beasley may see a healthy workload in his 2022 debut.

  • Cole Beasley: Joining Bucs' practice squad

The Buccaneers agreed Tuesday to sign Beasley to their practice squad with the expectation of elevating him to the roster soon, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) dealing with injuries and Mike Evans in line to serve a one-game suspension, Beasley will give Tampa Bay's receiving corps some valuable depth and experience. The 33-year-old, who is coming off back-to-back 82-catch seasons with the Bills, could be called up to the roster for Week 3 ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers.

  • Cole Beasley: Interested in return to Dallas

Beasley said he'd want to rejoin the Cowboys if it meant playing with Dak Prescott again, Jori Epstein of USA Today reports. It would mean exactly that with Prescott locked in as the franchise QB, but Beasley may not have such a warm relationship with the Dallas front office. The 33-year-old slot receiver reportedly has drawn interest from multiple teams since the Bills released him in mid-March.

  • Cole Beasley: Still unsigned

Though Beasley remains unsigned, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network suggests "that's not for lack of interest." With that in mind, Garafolo indicates that the Beasley -- who's coming off back-to-back 82-catch seasons with the Bills -- is staying patient as he waits for the right opportunity/offer to arrive. Depending on where he lands, the 33-year-old could find himself back on the PPR radar in 2022 if he ends up securing a key slot role for his new team.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Two catches in return

Beasley secured two of six targets for 22 yards in the Bills' 29-15 win over the Falcons on Sunday. The veteran possession man made his return after a one-game stay on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but even with Emmanuel Sanders (knee) out of action, he couldn't make much of an impact. In fairness, Josh Allen was extremely inaccurate and threw for just 120 yards overall, so Beasley could see a boost in his numbers versus the vulnerable Jets secondary in Week 18.

  • Bills' Cole Beasley: Activated from COVID-19 list

The Bills activated Beasley (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. Although Beasley is unvaccinated, he'll be eligible to return to practice Wednesday after the NFL and NFL Players Association agreed Tuesday on changes to the COVID-19 return-to-play policy, which now allows all players who test positive for the virus to rejoin their teams after five-day isolation periods if asymptomatic or showing diminished symptoms. Gabriel Davis (illness) was also activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, so the Bills seem to have a good chance at having their receiving corps at full strength for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
