  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Set to play in preseason

Bane (toe) said Thursday that expects to be a full-go for the preseason in the end of September, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Bane underwent surgery on his right big toe in May but is expected to be fully healthy for the 2023-24 campaign. With Ja Morant (suspension) out for the first 25 games of the season, the 25-year-old forward will likely be the focal point of Memphis' offense.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Signs massive extension

Bane (toe) agreed to a five-year, $207 million contract extension with the Grizzlies on Friday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Grizzlies now have their core of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bane locked up to long-term deals. Bane has become an elite two-way wing, most recently averaging 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.9 three-pointers in 2022-23. With Morant suspended to start the season, we could see Bane take on an expanded role in the offense.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Undergoes successful surgery

Bane underwent a successful procedure Tuesday to address a fracture of the medial sesamoid bone in his right big toe and is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Bane suffered the injury Nov. 11 against the Timberwolves and missed 17 straight games, but he returned to action Dec. 23 and played the rest of the season with minimal absences. Over his final 46 regular-season appearances, the 2020 first-round pick averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.3 minutes per game. Bane's availability to start next season will be especially important given Ja Morant is likely facing a lengthy suspension to start the year.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Puts up 15 points with 16 shots

Bane notched 15 points (5-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 37 minutes during Friday's 125-85 loss to the Lakers in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Similar to several Memphis starters, Bane struggled in a game where the team needed him badly. In fact, this 15-point outing was his worst performance of the series, which was particularly surprising since he posted back-to-back 30-plus-point games in the past two outings. Bane averaged 23.5 points per game in the series.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Reaches 30 points again in victory

Bane posted 33 points (12-21 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 10 rebounds and five assists over 43 minutes during Wednesday's 116-99 victory over the Lakers in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Bane led the Grizzlies in scoring and threes made while posting a team-high-tying rebound total in a double-double showing Wednesday. Bane has tallied 30 or more points in two straight postseason appearances, and Wednesday he hauled in at least 10 boards for the first time in the playoffs.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Pours in team-high 36 points

Bane chipped in 36 points (13-29 FG, 3-12 3Pt, 7-7 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 47 minutes during Monday's 117-111 overtime loss to the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Bane stepped up his offensive game Monday, doing all he could to get the Grizzlies over the line. However, they fell short of the mark, leaving themselves in a 3-1 hole with the series now heading back to Memphis. If the Grizzlies hope to come back, Bane will need to continue to do some heavy lifting on the offensive end with Ja Morant still dealing with a wrist injury.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Struggles from deep in loss

Bane produced 22 points (6-18 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five rebounds and six assists across 37 minutes during Sunday's 128-112 loss to the Lakers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Bane finished second on the team in scoring behind Jaren Jackson (31), but he struggled to find any offensive rhythm and was inefficient from the field. If Ja Morant (wrist) has to miss any time, Bane would presumably be asked to step up as Memphis' go-to playmaker.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Clears injury report

Bane (knee) will play in Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round versus the Lakers on Sunday. Bane was one of several Grizzlies rotation players to sit out the regular-season finale but is good to go for their playoff opener. He should be expected to retake his spot in the starting lineup and handle a full workload Sunday. In three games against the Lakers this season, Bane averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals over 32.7 minutes.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Out of season finale

Bane (knee) is out of Sunday's game against the Thunder. Bane is among several starters that won't see action Sunday, as the Grizzlies decided to rest their entire first unit in a meaningless regular-season game. Bane ends the campaign averaging a career-high 21.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game across 58 games, all as a starter.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Unlikely to play Sunday

Bane (left knee soreness) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Thunder. Bane is one of seven Grizzlies players to be tabbed doubtful for Sunday's regular-season finale, a game with little meaning considering Memphis is locked into the No. 2 seed for the playoffs. Fantasy managers should check back in closer to tipoff for a better idea of what the Grizzlies' rotation will look like.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Scores 24, fouls out

Bane fouled out of Wednesday's 138-131 overtime loss to the Pelicans after recording 24 points (9-21 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal across 43 minutes. Bane could not finish the game due to foul trouble. Still, fantasy managers should be delighted with his contributions, as the former TCU standout has taken an enormous leap offensively this season. He's ending the regular season on a high note, scoring at least 20 points in his past eight outings.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Pops for game-high 30 points

Bane had 30 points (12-22 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one block across 36 minutes during Tuesday's 119-109 win over Portland. Bane led all scorers with 30 points and notched his eighth 30-plus-point game of the season. Over his past seven contests, the third-year shooting guard has averaged 24.9 points, 5.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 33.1 minutes per game with 55/46/88 shooting splits during that stretch.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Tops 20 points again

Bane finished Sunday's 128-107 loss to the Bulls with 21 points (8-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one block in 33 minutes. Bane has gone over the 20-point plateau in six straight games, his longest streak of the season. Bane has shot well from three, hitting 48.6 percent of his shots beyond the arc, and at the free throw line, knocking down 91.7 percent of his freebies. The 24-year-old has provided a nice boost in efficiency for fantasy managers. His assists have also ticked up to 5.2 per game in this stretch. As long as Memphis isn't resting him, Bane should finish the season strong.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Nears double-double Friday

Bane finished with 22 points (9-18 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and three steals over 38 minutes during Friday's 108-94 victory over the Clippers. Bane returned to action following a one-game absence due to rest and a nagging foot injury, but he looked impressive here and came up one assist short of recording what would've been his first double-double since Jan. 4. Bane has been on a tear of late and has scored at least 20 points in each of his last five appearances, averaging 24.6 points while shooting 54.3 percent from the field in that span.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Will face Clippers

Bane (foot) will suit up for Friday's clash against the Clippers. Bane and a handful of teammates rested during Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, but he'll return for Friday's rematch. Bane has reached double digits in scoring over the past 11 games, averaging 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals during this stretch.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Out Wednesday

Bane (foot) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports. As expected, Bane will be joining Jaren Jackson (calf), Tyus Jones (foot) and John Konchar (hip) on the sidelines for Wednesday's game, which should result in some extended minutes for Luke Kennard and David Roddy. Bane's next chance to play will come in a rematch with the Clippers on Friday.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Doubtful Wednesday

Bane is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Clippers due to right foot soreness. Bane has been productive recently, posting 20-plus points in six of his last seven appearances, including a 31-point effort to go with five assists, four rebounds and three steals in a 113-108 win over the Magic on Tuesday. However, the Grizzlies are expected to hold out several players for the second half of a back-to-back set Wednesday, with Bane likely being among the group of resting players. Luke Kennard, David Roddy and Dillon Brooks are candidates to see increased run against the Clippers.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Scores 25 in 20 minutes

Bane chipped in 25 points (10-13 FG, 5-7 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals in 20 minutes during Friday's 151-114 victory over Houston. The Grizzlies poured in 151 points against the Rockets, the second highest amount in franchise history (152). Bane and Luke Kennard caught fire from beyond the arc, combining for 15 three-pointers. Bane has been outstanding over the past five games for Memphis and for fantasy managers, averaging 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.6 triples.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Dishes out seven assists Wednesday

Bane finished Wednesday's 130-125 win over the Rockets with 20 points (6-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and one steal in 35 minutes. Even with Ja Morant playing 24 minutes off the bench in his return from a nine-game absence due to a suspension and for conditioning purposes, Bane was able to retain a key playmaking role. He tied with starting point guard Tyus Jones for the team lead in assists, though both Bane and Jones are likely to notice some downturn in the category once Morant steps back into the starting five and reclaims his usual minutes. Bane averaged 5.1 assists while Morant was sidelined the past nine games after previously averaging 4.0 per game for the season prior to that stretch.

  • Grizzlies' Desmond Bane: Fills stat sheet Friday

Bane posted 21 points (10-22 FG, 1-5 3Pt), eight rebounds, seven assists, one block and three steals across 39 minutes during Friday's 126-120 overtime victory over the Spurs. Bane wasn't efficient from the field and needed 22 shots to score 21 points, but he still provided a strong fantasy line and tons of value due to his peripheral stats. Bane has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games and is averaging 20.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game across nine March contests.
