  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Four hits in win

Mountcastle went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-1 victory over Toronto. Mountcastle has been swinging a hot bat with multiple hits in four consecutive contests. The first baseman is now hitting a robust .449 (22-for-49) in 17 games since the All-Star break, strengthening his case for continued playing time in the heart of the order for Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: On base four times Wednesday

Mountcastle went 2-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays. The 26-year-old has reeled off three straight multi-hit performances against Toronto, and while he didn't deliver any extra-base hits this time, he did supplement his singles with his third steal of the season. Mountcastle is slashing .400/.462/.689 in 16 games since the All-Star break with seven doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs, and he's pushing his way back into a consistent starting spot even on an O's roster stuffed full of top prospects.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Possible waiver wire pickups

Mountcastle got off to a poor start this year and then missed about a month with a (possibly related) case of vertigo, so you can understand why his roster rate dipped below the 80 percent threshold even though he's a player of Fantasy renown. In 17 games since returning, he's batting .413 (19 for 46) with two homers and seven doubles. His average exit velocity during that time is 93.8 mph. Clearly, he's feeling like himself again, and he said as much after returning. "I felt like the ball was a pea size, and it was just blowing by me for a couple games there," he said, adding that he feels "like a normal human again." The right-handed slugger plays in maybe the worst possible venue for his skill set, but he hits the ball with such authority (now that he's hitting it again) that he'll be well worth starting in Fantasy, particularly at first base.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Torments Toronto once again

Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-3 rout of the Blue Jays. Getting the start at first base and batting second against southpaw Hyun Jin Ryu, Mountcastle produced two two-baggers for the second straight game at the Rogers Centre. The 26-year-old had been struggling prior to a bout of vertigo in June that caused him to miss about a month of action, but since the All-Star break he's slashing .372/.417/.674 in 15 games with seven doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs. The O's have two more games left in Toronto during this series, and Mountcastle's career 1.021 OPS in 199 plate appearances against the Blue Jays will make him an enticing DFS option.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Drives in three runs

Mountcastle went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI in Monday's win over Toronto. Mountcastle knocked a two-run double in the first inning and later added an RBI sacrifice fly in the third. His results are starting to match his strong batted-ball data; Mountcastle has gone 12-for-34 (.353) with six extra-base hits over his last 11 games. Still, his season slash line sits at a disappointing .245/.282/.450 through 305 plate appearances.

Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Mountcastle will head to the bench for the series finale after he started each of the last five games while going 5-for-15 with a pair of solo home runs, three walks and two additional runs. With Mountcastle taking a seat, Adley Rutschman will get a day off behind the plate and serve as the Orioles' designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Stays warm with homer

Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Yankees on Saturday. Mountcastle has gone 11-for-36 (.306) with two homers and three doubles since the All-Star break. While he has just three RBI in that 13-game span, it's an improvement on how he was hitting prior to a monthlong stint on the injured list with vertigo. The first baseman has a .240/.279/.441 slash line with 13 homers, 43 RBI, 41 runs scored and two stolen bases through 74 games this season. He's splitting time at first base with Ryan O'Hearn, though Mountcastle is usually in the lineup as the designated hitter when O'Hearn is in the field.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Hits 12th homer

Mountcastle went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Phillies. Mountcastle went yard in the sixth inning for his first homer since May 24. The first baseman has gone 8-for-25 (.320) with four extra-base hits and three RBI over 10 games since he returned from a bout with vertigo. He's slashing .236/.269/.434 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 38 runs scored and two stolen bases over 70 contests this season. Mountcastle will likely continue to compete with Ryan O'Hearn and Anthony Santander for playing time between first base and designated hitter, though all three can fit in the lineup when Santander is in right field.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: On bench Sunday

Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Mountcastle will sit for the second time in five games, as he has yet to fully work his way back into an everyday role following his return from the 10-day injured list July 9. The Orioles seem content to take a committee approach to the designated-hitter spot, which will fall to Anthony Santander on Sunday.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Returns from IL

The Orioles reinstated Mountcastle (illness) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. Per Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com, Mountcastle won't be included in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota, but the 26-year-old at least appears to be fully healthy again after a prolonged bout with vertigo. According to Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun, Mountcastle disclosed that he had been experiencing symptoms of vertigo before landing on the 10-day injured list June 13, including light-headedness that made the baseball appear "pea-sized" when he was at the plate. The condition may explain in part why Mountcastle struggled prior to landing on the IL and early on during his extended minor-league rehab assignment, but he settled back into a groove toward the end of his time in the minors. Over the final eight games of his 12-game assignment at Triple-A Norfolk, Mountcastle hit .300 with a pair of extra-base knocks. Though he's out of the lineup Sunday, Mountcastle should reclaim a near-everyday role coming out of the All-Star break.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Set for rehab assignment

Mountcastle (illness) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Mountcastle is symptom-free following a bout of vertigo and could be ready to return to the Orioles' active roster by the end of the week. Baltimore might opt to ease him back into action, though, with Ryan O'Hearn showing so well at first base. Mountcastle has slashed just .227/.264/.422 through 60 major-league games this year but he's managed to tally 11 home runs and 39 RBI.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Takes some throws Friday

Mountcastle (illness) took some throws at first base before Friday's game, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Mountcastle was placed on the injured list earlier this week due to vertigo. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde noted Friday that while the first baseman is feeling better, he's not fully 100 percent. He is eligible to return from the IL on June 20, although it's uncertain whether he'll be ready at that time.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Placed on 10-day IL

Mountcastle (illness) was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 10, by the Orioles on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Mountcastle will miss at least a week while he recovers from a bout of vertigo. The right-handed hitter has been able to swing in the cage, so this could be a minimum stint on the IL before he returns. Mark Kolozsvary had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding transaction.
