  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Diagnosed with wrist contusion

Muncy was diagnosed with a left wrist contusion after getting hit by a pitch Thursday versus Oakland. Muncy took a JP Sears fastball to the wrist in the bottom of the fifth inning and was lifted from the game in the bottom of the sixth, but X-rays turned up negative and there doesn't seem to be much concern. He finished the night with two walks, a run scored and the HBP across three plate appearances. Chris Taylor replaced him at third base and David Peralta entered in left field.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Exits after HBP to wrist

Muncy departed Thursday's game against the Athletics after taking a pitch off his left forearm/wrist, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Muncy was struck by a 91.3 mph JP Sears fastball in the bottom of the fifth inning, though he ran for himself and played third base in the top of the sixth before David Peralta replaced him in the lineup during the Dodgers' four-run bottom of the sixth. There should be an update on Muncy's status after the game.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Powers offense in win

Muncy went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Reds. The Dodgers had just two hits Saturday, with Muncy sending them both over the fence against Reds right-hander Luke Weaver. This snapped an 0-for-9 skid for Muncy, who has homered six times over his last nine games. The infielder is up to 27 long balls, 70 RBI, 60 runs scored, one stolen base and eight doubles while slashing .199/.331/.495 through 86 contests.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Stays hot Monday

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Monday's 6-3 extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays. Muncy homered for the third game in a row, and he's hit safely in five straight contests (8-for-21). The infielder also got above the Mendoza line Monday -- he's hitting .201 on the year, his highest mark since June 8. He's added an .819 OPS, 25 long balls, 65 RBI, 58 runs scored and a stolen bases through 347 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slugs grand slam in loss

Muncy went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Rangers. Muncy helped the Dodgers cash in a productive first inning against Texas starter Martin Perez. While Muncy hit a grand slam for his third homer in four games, he also struck out three times Sunday. The infielder continues to supply power with little other contact -- he's slashing .196/.327/.477 with 24 homers, 63 RBI, 57 runs scored and a stolen base while also striking out at a career-worst 27.8 percent rate through 81 games.

During that span, the third baseman has gone 5-for-13 with four extra-base hits, six runs scored, five RBI and a pair of walks.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Homers in loss

Muncy went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss against Baltimore. Muncy crushed a 431-foot homer to center field in the top of the fifth to score Freddie Freeman and bring the Dodgers back within two runs of Baltimore. The third baseman had gone 0-for-13 at the plate over his previous three games coming in and is still batting just .180 in July after batting .111 through all of June. He does, however, have four long balls this month to go along with eight RBI and 10 runs scored.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Reaches 20-homer mark

Muncy went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Pirates. Muncy has gone 7-for-28 (.250) over his last eight contests while smacking two homers and adding six RBI in that span. His blast Thursday was his 20th of the campaign -- a mark he's reached in each of the last five full seasons. The infielder is still batting just .195, but he's slugging .469 with 51 RBI, 46 runs scored, one stolen base and six doubles through 70 contests.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Day off Saturday

Muncy will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Royals. Since returning from a hamstring injury Tuesday, Muncy has started against three righties while sitting against two lefties, including Saturday's starter Daniel Lynch. That's likely due more to the Dodgers' desire to ease him back into a full workload than a decision to shift him into a platoon role, though his .141/.253/.375 line against lefties this season doesn't make a great case for him to face many southpaws. Yonny Hernandez will handle the hot corner Saturday.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Knocks in three runs Thursday

Muncy went 2-for-6 with a double, a run and three RBI in Thursday's 14-3 rout of the Rockies. Muncy returned Tuesday from a stint on the injured list due to a hamstring strain, and he collected his first knock since being activated with a two-run double in the fourth inning Thursday. The slugger followed with a run-scoring single in the fifth for his first multi-hit performance since May 30. Muncy has been productive with 18 homers, 48 RBI and 41 runs on the campaign, and he's posted a respectable .321 OBP thanks to his 15.4 percent walk rate. However, his batting average currently sits at .192, which puts him in line to finish below the Mendoza Line for the third time in the past four seasons.

The Dodgers reinstated Muncy (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Muncy landed on the injured list June 16 with a left hamstring strain and will now return as the Dodgers' primary third baseman. The 32-year-old slugger was slashing .094/.237/.219 through 38 plate appearances in June prior to getting hurt. Muncy has been out since June 13 with a strained left hamstring, and he will be back in the starting lineup when he returns Tuesday against Colorado. • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Could be activated this weekend

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before Tuesday's game versus the Angels that Muncy (hamstring) has a chance to return off the injured list over the weekend, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Roberts said that Muncy's left hamstring was "responding" and the infielder was able to run the bases and take grounders before Tuesday's game. Muncy is eligible to come off the injured list Friday, and while there's no guarantee that occurs, it does appear he'll return to the lineup without requiring a rehab stint as long as he continues to make progress.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Runs bases, fields grounders

Muncy (hamstring) ran the bases and took grounders at third base ahead of Tuesday's game against the Angels, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Muncy has been dealing with a hamstring strain since June 13 and was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. The 32-year-old third baseman is eligible to return from the IL on Friday, and his participation in pregame activities is a good sign he could be good to go by then.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Placed on injured list

The Dodgers placed Muncy (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Friday. Muncy will miss at least a week after suffering a hamstring strain during last Sunday's game versus the Phillies. The Dodgers called up Michael Busch from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Muncy's spot on the 26-man active roster, but Chris Taylor may get the first crack at replacing Muncy as Los Angeles' everyday third baseman.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Hamstring strain is low-grade

Muncy said Thursday on Foul Territory that his left hamstring strain is of the low-grade variety. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Wednesday that it was a Grade 2 hamstring strain, but the diagnosis isn't quite that drastic. "If it was a Grade 2, you're looking at a month, two months," Muncy said. "Thankfully that's not what I'm looking at right now." He's yet to be placed on the injured list and could perhaps return to action this weekend against the rival Giants.

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Dealing with Grade 2 strain

MRI results revealed Wednesday that Muncy has a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. Manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers won't place Muncy on the injured list just yet, and the hope is for Muncy to return Saturday against the Giants. The 32-year-old third baseman has already missed two games due to his hamstring strain and could still end up on the IL if he's not ready to come back this weekend.
